Even after 70 years of Independence the judicial system follows all the laws and attire of the British, even the pictures in the courts are still from the British era. Can justice delivered after several years be considered true justice? Advocate Nilesh Sangolkar a member of the Hindu Vidhinya Parishad stated that today the courts deliver decisions and not justice.

Salient points put forth by Advocate Sangolkar

1. Lalu Prasad Yadav held several ministerial posts till he was convicted in the Fodder scam 21 years later. Madhu Koda involved in the Coal scam running into several crores was convicted for 3 years while someone in Tamil Nadu who stole a mobile phone worth Rs 21 lakh was convicted for 5 years. Can this be termed as justice?

2. Instead of pictures of British judges there ought to be pictures of Ramshastri Prabhune, Gopinath Pant etc in the courts.

3. Decisions given by Lower courts are reversed by Upper courts, however a high level committee set up to investigate a low level employee is considered final and irreversible. Why does this happen?

4. The judiciary is now tarnished due to corruption and political involvement.
