Crackers with deities’ pictures: unabashed sale goes on

Mumbai: In Khot lane in Ghatkopar, a suburb of Mumbai, crackers with pictures of deities are openly sold. A no. of times, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and staunch Hindus have lodged complaints with the police in this regard. But to no avail as the sale goes on.

Despite complaints by HJS, no action has been taken by the police. In fact, the police told that the manufacturers of crackers should be made aware of the denigration of deities and the vendors are only sellers of such crackers.

HJS has registered complaints at different police stations and has given representations to the police officials against sale of crackers with deities’ pictures. HJS also called up Lord Krushna Fire Works Industries Office, the manufacturer of crackers, registered protest with them and warned that manufacture of such crackers is against the Indian Constitution and is a social offense. It has hurt feelings of Hindus. A drive under Diwali campaign has been started on the website of HJS.
