Successful efforts by Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mahamandal promoted by HJS at Nandurbar

Demands and issues raised by ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mahamandal’ would be discussed : ‘Mahamandal’ given promise by District Superintendent of Police (DSP)

Nandurbar : All Ganeshotsav Mandals from the city will be called for a separate meeting and all demands and issues raised by ‘Mahamandal’ would be discussed, was the promise given by DSP Rajendra Dahale to the delegation of HJS promoted ‘Mahamandal’. Dr. Narendra Patil of HJS, Shri. Sunil Sonar of ‘Shri Baba Ganapati’, Shri. Vasant Sonar, Bunty Netalekar, Ram Kadose of ‘Bhau Ganapati’, Shri. Chetan Rajput and Jitendra Rajput of ‘Maharana Pratap Mandal’ were the members of delegation.

After reading the demands, DSP Rajendra Dahale said that meeting with chiefs of all divisions only with participation of Ganshotsav Mandals would be held by this week end as per your demand and all problems would be solved. Similar representation was later submitted to the District Collector.

A meeting was held on 23rd July of all Ganeshotsav Mandals under ‘Mahamandal’ for discussing problems faced by them during celebration of Ganesh festival. It was attended by 110 office bearers of various Mandals from the city. It was decided in this meeting to submit representation to District Collector and DSP.

Demands made through representation

1. System of obtaining all necessary permission by Ganeshotsav Mandals through ‘one-window’ should be implemented even in all talukas.

2. Condition of submitting affidavit from all Mandals should be relaxed.

3. It should not be made compulsory for Mandals to fill the form for permissions ‘on line’.

4. Sale of meat in the open should be banned during Ganeshotsav festival and even at other times.

5. Local Administration should hold separate meeting only of Ganesh-devotees, Ganesh Mandals that have organizations celebrating Ganesh festival and discussions should be held only on Ganesh festival.

6. Problem of eve-teasers should be take care of during the festival and ‘Damini’ squad should be deployed in such areas.

7. Anti-Dharmashastra acts should be prohibited such as donation of idols, erection of artificial water tanks for immersion of idols, carrying idols or ‘nirmalya (offered flowers/ leaves)’ in garbage vans.

8. A circular should be issued by the administration prohibiting use of Ganesh idols made with paper pulp since it causes water pollution.

9. Roads used for going to immersion places should be permanently repaired.

10. Many people throw idols directly from the bridge of River Tapi at Prakasha since there is no way to go to bank of the river, for immersion. Provision may be made for going to the bank for immersion in flowing water.

11. During the festival period or on the day of immersion, disconnection of power supply of streetlights or load shedding should be stopped. Municipality should be asked to repair all street lights.
