DD’s ‘Sahyadri’ channel discusses religious festival like Ganeshotsava with scientists

Mumbai: Since the science invented Plaster of Paris (PoP), it has been used extensively for commercial purpose. But it is not properly disposed of. Today, the citizens have alienated themselves with science and therefore, the original method of celebration of Ganeshotsava has changed. It has led to a festival of noise pollution and water pollution. The above views were expressed by Dr. Sharad Kale, the scientist working with Dr. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Doordarshan (DD)’s ‘Sahyadri’ channel invited him in its news bulletin, telecast at 9.30 p.m. on Monday, and discussed with him the topic of ‘Ganeshotsava’ and environmental pollution’.

Dr. Kale said, “Sri Ganesha idol should be made of soil as advocated in ‘Dharma-shastra’. If it is made of PoP, it can be brought back by sprinkling some water on it. People can use idols made of metals. The stale flowers etc. can be collected instead of immersing in water.” 

[Ganeshotsava is a religious festival of Hindus. Someone who is an authority on matters related to Dharma should have been nvited to take part in the discussions; where was the need to invite a scientist? It is like asking a doctor’s opinion on law. It is only because of lack of unity among Hindus that a national channel is holding discussions on a Hindu religious festival claiming it to have become a form of pollution. Will Hindus seek an explanation from ‘Sahyadri’ channel?]
