Effect of HJS agitations

Niphad (Dist. Nashik, Maharashtra): The ‘Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School’ at Lasalgaon opposed to present a program on various Deities and great national leaders from Hindu culture. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) staged agitation on this issue. Now, the Principal has given an assurance , in writing, that all Hindu festivals would be celebrated with respect. (It is only due to the divine support that a small organisation like HJS could successfully stage agitation in this manner. On the occasion of ‘Teachers’ Day’, this School had organised various events like show of talent, fancy dress competition etc. But the students were not allowed to dress up like the revered Deities of Hindus like Sri Vitthal, Sri Krushna, Shiva etc. The School had refused to grant permission for the same on the grounds that it was a Christian school; although the parents had made a demand. (The school exhibited its hatred towards Hindus by giving such reason. It is only due to lack of unity among Hindus that Christian schools could dare to behave in such manner. Hindus should boycott such schools which, in a way, effect mental conversion by refusing permission to conduct ‘Dharmacharan’ ! – Editor SP)

When the members of HJS learnt about the matter, they immediately gave a joint representation to Police Inspector Girigosavi. The school’s Principal Jayant Sabale was approached by about 250 devout Hindus. A representation was submitted to him amidst slogans raised by agitators acclaiming Hinduism. A warning has been given in the representation that immediate action should be taken against the guilty or hundreds of devout Hindus would take out a rally and lock the school. Initially, Mr. Sabale did not accept that such thing had occurred in the school; but Hindus did not give up their stance. He was informed that the school was opposing Hindu students conducting ‘Dharmacharan’ but Sabale did not agree. A parent of a student, however, mentioned that his ward was not allowed to wear a ‘rudraksha’ chain; then Sabale had to accept the fact.

Sabale was asked that why the pictures of great national leaders were not displayed in the school; Mr. Sabale replied that the pictures had spoilt and were given for painting. This enraged the Hindus and they asked him that how only pictures of Hindu great leaders were spoilt. They asked him for the contact no. of the painter so that they could meet him. Sabale was forced to take back his false statement. Later, Sabale agreed for all demands made by devout Hindus and assured, in writing, to take action within 10 days. Mr. Prakash Patil, the city-chief of Shiv Sena, Mr. Umesh Desai, the Dy. City-chief, members of Niphad Panchayat Samiti Mr. Uttam Wagh, Mr. Girish Sabdra, Dy. Sarpanch of Takali, Mr. Shivaji Surashe, Director of Chanakya Classes Mr. Sandip Ghayal, Vedmurty Mr. Nilesh Agnihotri, members of HJS viz. Mr. Nilesh Bora, Ganesh Mahale, Dattulal Sharma, Hemant Karwal etc. were present on the occasion.
