Lethargy of Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC)’s main office

Mumbai: MMC selected an alternative of artificial water tanks for immersion of Sree Ganesha idols. The Information and Public Relations Department of MMC published ‘Ganeshotsava Information Booklet 2009’ giving data of the artificial tanks constructed and idols immersed in such tanks. In this booklet, the artificial tanks constructed at Ashoknagar, RCF Lake and Pestom Sagar were shown in Andheri Zone whereas none of these places are in Andheri. The information published by the Head Office was not known to even officers in the respective department of MMC. Such misguiding information has been published by the MMC head office regarding immersion of Sree Ganesha idols. (This shows the disorganized way of working of the Administration ! – Editor SP)

In the year 2007, an artificial water tank was built near LIC office in Andheri; but it had received very little response from the devotees and in the year 2008, such water tank was not built. The above information was given by the concerned officer in MMC to the representative of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’. (Although it is prescribed in Dharmashastra to immerse idols in natural flowing water resource, the anti-citizens’ Municipal Administrtaion and people’s representatives waste lakhs of rupees under the pretext of providing facilities to the devotees. The money wasted by these representatives and officials should be recovered from their pockets ! – Editor SP)
