Stop the blatant insult and humiliation of Swami Baba Ramdev in the rap music video on ScoopWhoop’s website

We at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) have received numerous complaints from devout Hindus regarding the insulting parody titled “Baba Ramdev Dancing To ‘Sexy And I Know It’ Will Give You A Stomachache From Laughter” created by Ramit Verma and presented on ScoopWhoop’s website by staff writer Abhijeet Bhatt at – http://www.scoopwhoop.com/humor/baba-ramdev/.

Upon reviewing these complaints, the HJS team immediately wrote an appeal letter addressed to ScoopWhoop’s Editorial Team requesting them to remove the obnoxious article and video from ScoopWhoop’s website to prevent further defamation of Swami Baba Ramdev. This insulting video not only tarnishes the image of Swami Baba Ramdev but also ridicules Hindu Yoga traditions.

The appeal letter stated that Swami Baba Ramdev has contributed greatly towards preserving and endorsing the ancient Hindu traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda. However the use of deviously edited footage of him performing Yoga Asanas to a rap song is a shameful way to drum up traffic to their website. In addition, the letter also emphasized that Abhijeet Bhatt has used his perverse writing style to trigger a buzz at the expense of someone who is respected and followed by millions of people around the world.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti team has not received a response from ScoopWhoop’s Editorial team. Consequently, HJS now requests all vigilant Dharmabhimanis to appeal in a peaceful and lawful manner against this vile presentation featuring Swami Ramdev Baba, by sending an email and requesting ScoopWhoop to remove the article and video from their website.

This letter is an appeal to put a stop to the humiliating depiction of Swami Ramdev Baba and the despicable manner in which the Hindu Yoga tradition has been presented. Swami Ramdev Baba has contributed immensely towards preserving and promoting the ancient Hindu traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda throughout the world. However the use of craftily edited footage of him performing Yoga Asanas to rap music is a truly cheap way to boost traffic to your website.

It’s a shame that your staff writer Abhijeet Bhatt has used his skill in writing to poke fun at someone who is doing so much good for humanity. It is not just Swami Ramdev Baba who is at the receiving end of your ill-founded humour but your website has hurt the sentiments of millions of his followers and well-wishers.

Hurting religious feelings is an offence as per the Indian Penal Code section 295A and this disparaging video at once insults Swami Ramdev Baba, ridicules yoga and consequently tarnishes the way Hinduism is viewed by people all over the world.

We at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti campaign to educate people about denigration of Hindu Dharma that occurs in various ways. We stress that our aim in bringing up this matter is to prevent denigration of Hindu culture and ensure that Hindu traditions get accurately represented in society. Hinduism has been misrepresented at many levels. You can take one significant step towards ensuring that Hinduism is not dishonoured by immediately removing the video “Baba Ramdev Dancing To ‘Sexy And I Know It’”.
