College students cancel ‘Valentine Day’ program after awareness created by HJS

Thane (Maharashtra) : Our culture teaches us to have selfless love and respect for mother, father, Guru and motherland; but practice of celebrating Valentine Day has become rampant and it is leading to many malpractices. News has been published in different newspapers about increase in sale of contraceptives on this day. The turn which this ‘Lovers Day’ is taking should be stopped. Sou. Supriya Gaikwad and Sou. Sarita Narvekar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) explained this topic to students of N. K. T. College, Thane. As the students learnt about it, they cancelled a program proposed to be held on this occasion. Such awareness was created by HJS even at different schools and colleges in Bhiwandi, Dombivali, Kalyan etc. and representations were given to District Collector and police.

Highlights

Many students said that they would explain this topic to other children and asked for handbills on the subject.
