‘Aaj-Tak’ news channel’s ploy to malign H. H. Asaram Bapu thwarted

Discussion session held on the topic of filing charge-sheet against H. H. Asaram Bapu

On 6th November, a discussion session was held on ‘Aaj- Tak’ news channel at 11.00 a.m. to know opinion of people on the charge-sheet to be filed against H.H. Asaram Bapu. The TV channel held such discussions even before Court could complete its work; therefore, the invited guests did not know what to say. The program-host tried as usual, to malign H.H. Asaram Bapu’s name; but the advocate participating in the discussion program did not respond to it thus thwarting channel’s ploy. ‘H.H. Bapu will get maximum punishment; do those, who have good opinion about H.H. Bapu, still hold the same opinion even after the accusations levelled against him’, were some of the questions asked. In this program, Mahendra Chawla, the ex-secretary of H. H. Bapu, Swami Chakrapani, the President of ‘Sant-Sabha’, advocate Arvind Jain, ‘Aaj-Tak’ channel’s reporter Sharatkumar and Sanatan Sanstha’s spokesperson, Shri. Anand Jakhotia took part while the program was hosted by Sameep Rajguru.

Shri. Anand Jakhotia, the spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha was asked that even if accusations were made against H. H. Asaram Bapu under so many clauses, would he still speak in favour of the accused ? Shri. Jakhotia said, “Police have prepared charge –sheet against him under different clauses; but Court will decide in the matter. In Malegaon bomb blast case, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Central Investigating Agencies had made accusations against certain persons but now, after 9 years, the Court has passed verdict that all the information submitted by ATS and NIA was wrong. The accusations made against Swami Swarupananda, Kanchikamakoti Peeth’s Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri. Jayendra Saraswati were also proved to be wrong in Court; therefore, it will be wrong to say anything in this matter till judicial process is complete.”

Shri. Arvind Jain explained about judicial procedure wherein he said, “All charges and counter-charges will be presented before the Court. Charges, which are found to have some substance, will be investigated further. In case, the Judge does not find any truth in the charges, then the case can be even dismissed. As per the present information, the charges are of serious nature. Till statement is not filed by the minor girl as per the clauses applied by police, it seems that Asaram Bapu would not get bail.”

Program-host Sameep was time and again asking advocate Jain what will happen if the accusations made against H.H. Bapu were found to be true. Although it was not necessary to ask such question, it appeared that Sameep wanted advocate Jain to give some opinion so as to conduct discussions on such points; but advocate Arvind Jain did not express any opinion and clearly said that the Court would decide in the matter; as a result, Sameep’s ploy of mud-slinging H. H. Bapu’s name was foiled.  

It is a conspiracy against Hindu Dharmagurus ! – Swami Chakrapani, President, Sant-Sabha

Swami Chakrapani said, “From the incidents taking place against H.H. Asaram Bapu, it is felt that conspiracy is hatched against Hindu Dharmagurus. Dharmagurus are brought before people in such manner that devotees’ faith in them will shake and they would go astray.”   

He also gave examples of Kanchikamakoti Peeth’s Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri. Jayendra Saraswati and H. H. Nityanand Maharaj against whom charges were levelled but their getting acquitted later and firmly said that he was sure of same thing happening with H. H. Asaram Bapu.

2. H.H. Asaram Bapu was referred to in singular without respect.
3. There were news-tickers shown during the program like – ‘Ab jail ki roti khani padegi’, ‘1300 pages charge-sheet ready’, ‘Asaram is a kidnapper’, ‘sex-racket run by Asaram’ etc. (It shows yellow journalism in media and Government’s support to such channels for defaming Saints. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
4. The program-host was saying, as if he was a legal expert, that considering the charges levelled against him, he (H H. Bapu) was likely to get stringent punishment.
5. It was also said that he could be punished with life imprisonment.
6. It was stressed by Aaj-Tak’s reporter that devotees were not crowding before Jodhpur Court as earlier and they have drifted from H.H. Bapu.
