Demand immediate implementation of anti-love jihad law in Maharashtra for safety of young women

Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra – Growing incidents of love jihad in Maharashtra have sparked serious concern for the safety of young girls and women. Following a recent case in Shiroli, Kolhapur district, another similar incident has been reported in Ichalkaranji within just two weeks.
In response, several Hindu organisations came together on 6 July and staged a strong protest outside the Sub-Divisional Officer’s office. The protest was jointly organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, International Hindu Parishad–Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, and Sakal Hindu Samaj. The demonstrators demanded that the Maharashtra government implement the proposed anti-love jihad law effectively and without further delay.
After the protest, the demonstrators took out a procession and submitted a memorandum to Deputy Tehsildar Sanjay Katkar and Police Inspector Sharad Nemane at Shivajinagar Police Station.

On this occasion, Rupali Satpute, the Chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Committee of the Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation; Pandharinath Thanekar, the District Secretary of the International Hindu Parishad–Rashtriya Bajrang Dal; Prasad Jadhav of Shri. Shivapratishthan Hindusthan; Shivanand Swami of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti; Meena Mane of ‘Swami Samarth Kendra’; and Harshada Shekhawat of ‘Ojaswini Vahini’ expressed their views.
A large number of devout Hindu activists were present during the event, including Santosh Hattikar, the District Special Contact Chief of the International Hindu Parishad–Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, Santosh Patil, Dattatray Patil, Manohar Mhetre, Santosh Kandekar, Aniket Tanugade, Ashok Purohit; Mangesh Maskar, Chandrakant Jasud, and Vinod Ojha of Shri. Shivapratishthan Hindusthan; Madhukar Nazare of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti; Ashok Gurav of the Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh; and Bhagwantrao Jambhale, the City Vice-President of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
Memorandum also submitted in Hatkanangale

Hatkanangale (District Kolhapur) – A memorandum was handed over to the Resident Deputy Tehsildar Sandeep Chavan on behalf of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, demanding the immediate implementation of the anti-love jihad law for the safety of young girls and women.
Present on this occasion were Pankaj Butthe, a Rural District Member of the BJP; Raosaheb Shinge, the Vice-President of the OBC Cell; Bhavesh Patel of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Shivaji Hande of Shri. Shivapratishthan Yuva Hindusthan; Ajit Devmore, the Deputy Sub-District Chief of the Shiv Sena, and Sachin Devmore; Mahesh Patil, a priest of the Arya Samaj; Ashok Gurav and Kiran Gurav of the Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh, Mahesh Sawant, Shankar Bandgar; Sagar Sutar of the ‘Art of Living’; Santosh Sanagar and Kiran Duse of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti; and Babasaheb Bhopale of the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad.
