This act is a grave denigration of our national icons and cannot be dismissed as a simple aesthetic error. This blatant insult to our cultural identity demands swift and uncompromising legal accountability. – Editor, HJS.

Sikri, Haryana – In a grave disrespect to our revered national icons, portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharani Padmini were put up as directional signage for men’s and women’s washrooms at the Milan Banquet Hall in Sikri, Haryana. This disrespectful placement was captured on video, which quickly went viral on social media, sparking a wave of national outrage and sharp condemnation for the grave insult to these revered historical icons.
As the backlash intensified, the banquet hall’s management removed the portraits and issued a clarification that the images were intended to represent “ancient dressing styles” for aesthetic purposes, not to depict specific historical figures.
Despite the removal of the images, there are strong demands for strict legal action against the establishment to ensure accountability for insulting the country’s cultural heritage and hurting public sentiment.
