Ban temple entry for beef eaters and those rejecting idol worship: Mandir Mahasangh

Mandir Mahasangh backs Ujjain Saints’ stand on banning entry of non-Hindus in temples

Ponda, Goa – Supporting the firm stand taken by the Saints and Hindu organisations of Ujjain, Shri. Sunil Ghanwat, Coordinator of the Mandir Mahasangh, stated that Hindu pilgrimage centres are not tourist destinations, but sacred and spiritually awakened spaces for Hindus. He questioned, “Why do those who do not believe in idol worship, do not respect Hindu culture, and trample upon Hindu religious sentiments by consuming beef, need entry into temples at all?” The Mandir Mahasangh has therefore taken a clear stand that such individuals must be prohibited from entering temples.

To preserve the sattvikta (purity) of temples and to ensure that their sanctity is not violated, an immediate ban on the entry of non-Hindus into temples and temple premises is the need of the hour. In this regard, a resolution was unanimously passed at the national-level workshop of the Mandir Mahasangh held in Ponda, Goa, in the presence of trustees from various temples across Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. This was conveyed by the National Organiser of the Mandir Mahasangh, Shri. Sunil Ghanwat.

Shri. Ghanwat further stated that such regulations are necessary for the protection of Hindu temples. He pointed out that incidents of unauthorised entry and activities that compromise sanctity at pilgrimage centres have raised concerns regarding temple security. It is in this context that the Mandir Mahasangh has put forward this demand.
