Submits memorandum to FSSAI to intervene and ensure regulatory neutrality
The initiative taken by MP Dr. Medha Kulkarni in raising this matter reflects the seriousness of the issue and its national importance. This issue warrants similar attention and action from all public representatives. Citizens must urge their respective Members of Parliament to raise this issue and seek a permanent ban on the misuse of halal certification. – Editor, HJS

New Delhi – The uncontrolled expansion of halal certification in Bharat has become a matter of serious concern. This certification, which was earlier limited to non-vegetarian items, is now being pushed for common products such as flour, vegetarian food items, cosmetics and medicines as well, thereby misleading the consumers. Moreover, this practice encourages a parallel and private certification system, which runs contrary to the principles of transparency and accountability.
Therefore, Pune-based BJP MP Dr. Medha Kulkarni has made a strong demand that the use of halal certification beyond non-vegetarian products be immediately banned. She submitted a written memorandum to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Mr. Rajit Punhani.
हलाल सर्टिफिकेशन पर सख्त नियम जरूरी: केवल मांस उत्पादों तक सीमित रहे, केवल सरकारी एजेंसियाँ जारी करें।

Key demands of MP Medha Kulkarni:
– Halal certification should be issued only by the government or by institutions recognised by the government.
– It should be restricted solely to meat and meat-based products.
– Its use for products other than non-vegetarian items should be stopped immediately.
– This action is extremely important for the protection of consumer rights, fair trade, and for maintaining the secular and neutral character of Bharat’s market.
