Essential for young women to learn self-defence – Kranti Petkar, Ranragini

Pune (Maharashtra) – As women empowerment continues to gain momentum, women and young girls are increasingly taking active roles and achieving success across diverse fields. Along with empowerment, however, the practice of Dharmacharan (righteous conduct) remains essential. In view of the rising atrocities against women, today’s youth must learn the art of self-defence, emphasized Ms. Kranti Petkar of the Ranragini wing.

She was speaking at the Dance Festival – 2025, recently organised by Mrs. Ashlesha Chorghe’s Nritya Avishkar Dance Academy in Sortapwadi, Pune. The event was graced by Mrs. Rupali Joshi of Nupur Jhankar Academy and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Kartiki Gaikwad.

The programme began with the worship of the idol of Nataraj. Marking the academy’s annual convention, students showcased a variety of dance performances, follwoing which participants were felicitated with mementos and certificates in recognition of their efforts.
