Jammu – Reacting to the Delhi blasts, former Jammu and Kashmir DGP S.P. Vaid expressed shock that doctors educated through donations from Mata Vaishno Devi’s devotees turned against the very pilgrims who funded their education.
Jammu: Former DGP S.P. Vaid says, “People of all religions live in India. Things are never looked at from a religious viewpoint. In his post on ‘X’, S.P. Vaid highlighted that the suspected bomber, Dr. Umar Nabi, was a resident of Pulwama, Kashmir. Despite earning one of the most sought-after professional degrees in the region, he became a suicide bomber. Allegedly, around 70% of seats at Katra Medical College are reserved for Kashmiri (Muslim) students. That someone could rise to the rank of a doctor yet choose the path of terror is deeply tragic.
He added that Katra Medical College is financially supported by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The entire management, including the college, is funded by donations from Hindu pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi temple. It was through this very institution that individuals like Dr. Mujammil and Dr. Umar Nabi received their education, and then went on to do what they always do.
Editor’s Perspective
Across the country, Muslims receive various subsidies funded by Hindu taxpayers. Even madrasas are financed from these same funds. In the past, government subsidies were also provided for the Haj pilgrimage. Jammu & Kashmir receives the highest central funding compared to any other state. Yet, in return, Hindus face death, betrayal, and attacks on their temples. It is now imperative that Hindus raise their voices against this injustice.
