150 Years of Vande Mataram : HJS organises nationwide events

Mass renditions, exhibitions and lectures held across the nation as citizens participate with great patriotic pride

In line with the Union Government’s initiative of celebrating ‘Vande Mataram’ nationwide, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised several events across the country.

The programmes featured mass renditions, exhibitions on the lives and contributions of great revolutionaries, and lectures tracing the history of ‘Vande Mataram’ and its role in inspiring freedom fighters against British rule. Mass renditions of the song were held in schools, universities, temples and prominent public spaces.

Citizens, public representatives, office-bearers of various social and pro-Hindu organisations, and students from numerous educational institutions actively participated with a strong sense of national pride. Volunteers of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also appealed to mandate the singing of the complete ‘Vande Mataram’ in all educational institutions nationwide.

Maharashtra : Patriotic awakening week celebrated statewide

In Maharasthtra, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised a week-long special patriotic awakening campaign in various districts of the state. Through mass singing events held in schools, colleges and public places, citizens expressed their pride and devotion towards the motherland. More than 5,000 patriotic citizens, including ex-servicemen, teachers, students, and office-bearers of various social and pro-Hindu organisations participated in the mass singing events organised at over 60 locations in the state.

The initiative received an enthusiastic response from various districts, namely Satara, Solapur, Kolhapur, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Ratnagiri, Mumbai and others. Citizens raised slogans of “Vande Mataram” while holding the national flag and placards of freedom fighters. In Kolhapur, MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar and other dignitaries inaugurated the initiative and conveyed the message of patriotism.

Maharashtra State Organiser of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Mr. Sunil Ghanwat said,
“Even after 150 years, the song ‘Vande Mataram’, composed by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, continues to ignite the flame of patriotism in the heart of every Bharatiya. To ensure that this flame inspires future generations, we appeal for the complete ‘Vande Mataram’ to be sung in all schools and colleges.”

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organises events in line with the Union Government’s nationwide mass rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’

On 7th November 2025, ‘Vande Mataram’, the epoch-making song penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, that awakened the spirit of revolution across pre-independent India, completed 150 years. The song had infused revolutionary zeal and courage among freedom fighters, inspiring them to face British tyranny with unwavering resolve.

In line with the Union Government’s initiative of a mass rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ across the nation, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised collective rendition of Vande Mataram at various places across the nation.

Kolhapur, Maharashtra : At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Kolhapur, mass rendition of Vande Mataram was organised to rekindle patriotic spirit among the public. Students from nearby institutions too participated in the collective singing with great enthusiasm.

Volunteers of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also held placards displaying information about the contribution of our revolutionaries in the freedom struggle. Shri. Shivanand Swami of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti urged that every school and college should regularly sing the full ‘Vande Mataram’, comprising all its original stanzas composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. Several dignitaries and representatives of various Hindu organisations were present on the occasion, adding to the patriotic fervour of the event. Shiv Sena MLA and State Planning Board Chairman Shri. Rajesh Kshirsagar, who attended the event, said that a grand collective rendition of Vande Mataram would also be organised at Dasara Chowk, with the participation of thousands of patriotic citizens.

Similar collective Vande Mataram rendition programmes were organised at various locations across the district.

Collective rendition of the complete ‘Vande Mataram’ at Chiplun & Pachal in Maharashtra

Patriotic citizens at the ‘Kranti Gatha’ exhibition in Chiplun

Chiplun: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised a ‘Kranti Gatha’ (Revolutionary saga) exhibition and a collective rendition of the complete ‘Vande Mataram’ on 8th November, opposite the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Chiplun.

During the event, participants offered flowers to the image of Bharat Mata. The event also featured a short narration on how Vande Mataram inspired the freedom movement across the nation. Members from Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), BJP, Shiv Sena, Sanatan Sanstha, Gau Rakshaks, Hindu activists, and patriotic citizens participated enthusiastically in the event.

Pachal: At the Dharmashikshan varg organised by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti at the Shri Mahaganapati Temple in Pachal, Shri. Shrikrishna Narkar of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti spoke about Vande Mataram’s historical journey and its role in awakening the nation’s spirit. He also gave a brief introduction of the various initiatives planned across the nation during the year to spread awareness about ‘Vande Mataram’. Thereafter, Sanatan Sanstha’s audio clip of the ‘complete Vande Mataram’ was played, and all the participants sang along with deep devotion for Bharat Mata.

Collective Renditions Across Karnataka

  • Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised a collective rendition of the complete ‘Vande Mataram’, comprising all six original stanzas, at a school in Gadag. All the students participated in the event with great enthusiasm.

  • Nationalist citizens also gathered in Shivamogga, for the collective rendition of Vande Mataram organised by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
