Nationwide campaign for a ‘Halal-Free Diwali’

Citizen-led silent protest in Pune for a ban on the insidious Halal Economy!

Pune – A nationwide campaign for a “Halal-Free Diwali” has been organised in opposition to the insidious “Halal certifications” issued for food and other products. The Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti (Hindu Rashtra Coordination Committee), Committee for Action Against Halal Imposition, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, and other like-minded organisations have come together to announce this nationwide movement.

As part of this initiative, on October 12, silent protests were held at Ganapati Chowk, Laxmi Road, Pune by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and like-minded organisations, demanding a ban on Halal-certified products and on the Halal certification system itself. Similar demonstrations were also held at Pargaon Sali Malu and Kedgaon.
Citizens staged their protest while holding placards that read “This Diwali – a Halal-Free Diwali”, “Do not buy any product with a Halal certification mark”, and “Remember, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, which issues Halal certificates, provides legal aid to terrorists!”

As part of this campaign, anti-Halal imposition protests, traders’ meetings, community gatherings, awareness posters, lectures, leaflet distribution, and online petitions are being conducted nationwide to spread awareness on this serious issue.

To urge the central government to abolish the Halal certification system, a signature campaign has been launched under the Halal-Free Diwali movement to raise public awareness. Information about the Halal certification issue was shared with the general public, which received a positive response. Many said they were previously unaware of the issue and declared, “We will no longer purchase any product bearing the Halal certification mark.”
The participating organisations expressed their determination to continue this struggle consistently, not limited to Diwali, until the goal of a “Halal-Free India” is achieved.
