Assurance by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Mumbai – Ashadhi Vari is an extremely spiritual and cultural part of the life of Maharashtra. It is a practice which is going on uninterruptedly for centuries and does not have any concept of inequity. It is a matter of serious concern why and how so many Communists, progressives, ANiS members who do not have faith in God, are participating in this Vari. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti activists met with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to present a memorandum. The deputy Chief minister immediately signed the memorandum and ordered urgent investigation and appropriate action on the matter.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti activists met with the State Home Minister (Urban) Yogesh Kadam. On behalf of the Samiti, a memorandum was presented to him too. He assured the Samiti that he would apprise the State DGP and IGP of the Department, about the matter.
Shiv Sena MLA Dr. Manisha Kande vociferated in the Legislative Assembly
“It is an attack on Hindu Dharma when those who deny the existence of God, infiltrate the Vari. They conspire to create doubts in the minds of the devotees and deviate them from God. Some of these urban Naxalites have taken names of various organisations. Government should pay attention to this serious problem and act against the infiltrators in the Vari.” Dr. Kayande demanded in the Legislative Assembly.
On 2nd July, under ‘point of information’, this matter was brought to notice in the Legislative Assembly by Dr. Kayande. She added, “Ashadhi Ekadashi is only a few days away. Pandhari’s Vari is world famous. The poor villagers participate in the congregation to reach Pandharpur. Some urban Naxalites have infiltrated in the Vari under the names of Samvidhan (Constitution) Vari, Paryavaran (environment) Dindi, Lokayat (atheism) etc.

Through street performances and lectures these people are trying to create doubts in the minds of devotees. The government must arrest them. Santaveer Hari Bhakt Parayan, Bandyatatya Karadkar has also given a memorandum to the Chief Minister and asked him to act against these Naxalites. To be able to act against these Urban Naxals the government will table a Jan Suraksha Bill (public safety bill) in the coming session. The government must take this matter seriously. The deputy Chief minister Eknath Shinde has assured that the infiltration of Urban Naxals is a serious issue and he will instruct the Home Department to act against this matter.
