Declare ‘Hat Katro Khamb’ at Old Goa as a National Monument!

Panaji, 18 June – “Today, we are not taught the true history, which is why we are unaware of the importance of ‘Hat Katro Khamb’. We must take pride in the history of sacrifices made by our ancestors. Our forefathers gave their lives here for the protection of Dharma, and this is our identity. ‘Hat Katro Khamb’ must be included in the UNESCO list. Currently, this historic monument is being neglected and the area is extremely dirty. Its sanctity must be preserved as it is a historical monument. We urge the government to declare ‘Hat Katro Khamb’ as a national monument,” the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded.

On the occasion of Goa Revolution Day (Kranti Din), the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti paid tribute to the known and unknown martyrs of the Goa liberation struggle at the historic ‘Hat Katro Khamb’ in Old Goa. The demand was the put forth by the national spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Mr. Ramesh Shinde. Present on the occasion were Mr. Jayesh Thali from Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh, Mr. Raj Sharma from Brahmin Mahasangh, sahodari Nutan from the Brahma Kumaris, Mr. Pramod Nanoskar, Headmaster of Aloysius School Mr. Anand Phadte, and Mr. Satyawan Mhamal, among others.

The event began with dignitaries offering a garland to the ‘Hat Katro Khamb’ followed by paying homage to the martyrs. On this occasion, student representatives Miss Sakshi and Miss Janhavi Sawaikar, along with Mr. Jayesh Thali from Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh, and Mr. Ishwar Kubal, Principal of Saraswati Vidyalaya, Juvem, expressed their thoughts.

Students from St. Aloysius High School, Divar, and Saraswati Vidyalaya, Juvem actively participated in the program.
