Unanimous decision to oppose the proposed Act to take over temples

Panvel: The Maharashtra State Government is going to pass an Act on the recommendations of the 15th Law commission to take over temples and religious institutions in the State. A meeting of trustees of temples and office bearers of the religious institutions in Panvel, was held under the guidance of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). In this meeting, Shri. Bapu Raokar, the spokesperson of HJS for the Raigad district explained to the participants various clauses of the proposed Act and their effects.

The State Government was condemned for its anti-Hindu policies. It was decided to write representations in the name of the Chief Minister and the Secretary and submit the same with HJS. It was also decided that the political parties going to people for votes in the forthcoming elections will be asked about to make clear their stand on the proposed Act. Another meeting in this context was held at Sanpada, Navi Mumbai. Trustees have very strong reactions about the proposed Act. It has been decided to create awareness among people through the medium of banners, posters and handbills.
