NCERT Book controversy

In the text books set by National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for 1st to 12th standards, information on Maharana Pratap, his bravery, sacrifice etc. has been given only in 24 lines.

Mr. Eknath Khadase made a demand that there was need to totally change the curriculum. He was talking on the point of grants by school education department in the budget for the year 2011-12.

In the history text book of NCERT for 7th standard, most of the pages, out of the total 154 pages, are used for Mughal, cruel invaders who attacked Hindustan; but history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been given in a very negligible space.

HJS has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister Digambar Kamat alleging that Chhatrapati Shivaji has not been given prominence compared to the Mughal rulers, in VII standard history text book of the NCERT.

Panaji (Goa): National Committee for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has once again degraded Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in its text book ‘Social Science – Our Past-2’ by giving him an inferior position.

Beed (Maharashtra): HJS and devout Hindus held protest rally against Anti-Hindu NCERT History textbooks giving very less information about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and giving lot of informations about Mughals.

Mumbai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti staged demonstrations against NCERT at Mulund (East) and Jogeshwari (East) Railway Stations. 60 patriots took part in the demonstrations held at Mulund and 70 at Jogeshwari.
