Only by the grace of the Guru can the disciple attain his ultimate benefaction, that is spiritual progress.

All Gurus are the same internally though externally Their physical appearances may differ.

The Lord chooses each individual to be born in that particular family (kuLa) whose family deity he needs to worship so as to make spiritual progress.

In the final step one does not even have to make a resolve. Mere presence, proximity or company of the Guru is sufficient for a disciple's spiritual practice and progress to occur automatically.

In this path a seeker learns how to acquire the Guru’s grace at the earliest, bypassing all other paths instead of wasting several years fol­lowing various paths of spiritual practice.

During the period of compilation of mantras in order to arrange the holy texts or verses systematically in the form of Sanhitas, the formation of the institution of the Guru to study, teach, practise and apply the mantras became the need of the hour.

In this very birth each one seeks guidance from teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. for simple things. If this is so then it is really beyond one's imagination to understand the importance of the Guru who releases one from the bondage of life and death.

Though the word Gurumantra includes the word mantra in it, it mostly implies a Name of the Lord that a disciple should chant.
