Hindu Janajagruti Samiti delegation calls upon MLA Rajesh Phaldesai

Panaji, July 30 – ‘Hatkatro Khamb’ in Old Goa is a historical structure that bears witness to the innumerable atrocities committed by the oppressive Portuguese rulers on the Hindus of Gomantak. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti recently called upon Kumbharjuve MLA Rajesh Phaldesai and sought an assurance that the sanctity of the structure be maintained.
MLA Rajesh Phaldesai told the Samiti delegation that he would immediately have the perimeter of ‘Hatkatro Khamb’ perimeter fenced. The Samiti delegation consisted of Mr. Satyavijay Naik (State organiser of HJS), Mr. Suchendra Agni, Mr. Swapnil Naik and others.
The site of the ‘Hatkatro Khamba’ has now become a shelter for workers. The workers sleep on the platform. Outrageous scenes like people consuming alcohol on the platform are also common. Recently the pillar was desecrated by painting it yellow. The HJS, which has been running a long standing campaign to protect this heritage site, took note and approached the MLA.
