100 Pak Hindus migrate to India

Jaipur: Fearing religious persecution by hardline Muslims groups in Pakistan, a group of 100 Pakistani Hindus came to India on Friday on valid travel papers and sought Indian citizenship. The group boarded the Thar Express and reached Jodhpur on Friday.

The Hindus, belonging to the oppressed tribal Bheel community, came from Pakistan’s Sindh and Punjab provinces. "With consistent intimidation on religious grounds, they have no option but to move to safer places in India," says Seemant Lok Sangthan (SLS) president Hindu Singh Sodha, who is spearheading a campaign for Pakistan’s displaced Hindu minority. "They were forced to live in fear," says Baldev, a relative of the group members.
