Communal Violence Bill

The Communal Violence Bill seems likely to resurface as part of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's desperate bid to sew up minority support in the event of an unexpected election.

Media reports that the Centre is keen to introduce the controversial communal violence bill, gathering dust in North Block for close to two years now, after Parliament re-assembles on April 22, are disturbing.

The Home Ministry has decided to push ahead the controversial Communal Violence Bill which aims to check targeted violence against the minorities. The Ministry has submitted their draft of the bill to the Law Ministry for legal vetting.

Retired Supreme Court judge Shivaraj V Patil said that the country would be divided into groups if the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill was enacted

The victim of violence can also be people from the majority groups...Killing of Hindus in Muslim dominated areas too should be under this law, because Hindus will then be in minority in a Muslim dominated area,said Niaz A Farooqui of Jamat-e-Ulema-i-Hind.

Kochi : Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Ashok Singhal on Tuesday warned of a massive movement in the country if the Centre did not withdraw the proposed Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill 2011.

Recently, a mammoth protest rally was taken out by ‘Hindu hit-rakshna Vedika’ and other pro-Hindu organizations in Mangaluru city against the proposed anti-Communal Violence Bill 2011.

Mr. Dheeraj Raut of HJS said that we should be alert towards various attacks against our Dharma and protest in lawful manner; because, if we try to protect Dharma, Dharma will protect us. Miss Ashwini Vibhandik did compeering of the ‘sabha’ that was concluded with singing of ‘Vande Mataram’.

Mr. Raju Lahane is a reader of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ and an alert devout Hindu from Ayare village. Some of his relatives were attending prayers conducted by Christians.
