Our children, the future of Bharat, are being lied to by the very institution we have entrusted them with – the school system. For decades, we have been taught that Bharat was a land of the conquered, the subjugated, and the meek. We have been told that we were backward until external forces ‘civilised’ us. That Hindus are a caste-ridden, dogmatic society. Bharat’s textbooks may be unparalleled in their ability to undermine our great civilisation. These lies, repeated year after year from classes 5 to 12, have led generations of Bharatiyas to grow up with shame and resentment towards their own Nation and Dharma.
If we aspire to restore our nation to its rightful place as Vishwaguru, we must ensure future generations learn the true history of those who defended our Dev, Desh, and Dharma! It is time to correct historical distortions, present the factual narrative, and honour those who shaped our great nation.
At Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, we have advocated for the revision of history textbooks since our inception. As part of this effort, we ask you to join us in taking the necessary steps to ensure our future generations are raised as proud Indians and Hindus!

Do you know
The Lies Our Children Are Taught?

Glorification of Mughal & exclusion of their atrocities

History textbooks present Mughal invaders as benevolent rulers. The atrocities of Islamic invaders – forced conversions, temple destruction, religious persecution, are either downplayed or omitted.

Timur referred to as ‘Great’

The textbooks glorify brutal invaders like Timur, who caused massive destruction in India, instead of portraying them as ruthless conquerors by stating that, ‘the Mughals were descendants of two great lineages of rules’.

Jizya Tax misrepresented

Textbooks describe Jizya as a fee paid by the non-Muslims who had been given the status of Zimmis or protected people, making it appear as though they enjoyed fair treatment. But in reality, it was an oppressive tax imposed on non-Muslims, forcing them into second-class status with severe restrictions.

Mughal succession wars ignored

Textbooks misleadingly describe Mughal successions as peaceful inheritance, while conveniently omitting the violent reality that every Mughal emperor seized the throne by killing or imprisoning his own brothers, presenting a misleadingly peaceful picture.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s role downplayed

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s resistance against Mughal oppression is described merely as another attempt by a local ruler to rise to power, rather than a fight against religious persecution.

Rajput – Mughal alliances misrepresented

The textbooks state that Rajputs “voluntarily” married their daughters into Mughal families for high positions, romanticising these alliances without acknowledging the underlying coercion and religious motives.

Omission of Guru Gobind Singh’s historic letter

Textbooks deliberately omit the contents of Guru Gobind Singh’s powerful letter to Aurangzeb, in which he justified taking up arms against tyranny—a historic message that played a crucial role in Bharatiya history.

Deliberate Neglect of Freedom Fighters

Textbooks sideline national heroes like Subhas Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and other revolutionaries, while giving undue focus to topics like cricket history.

False Labeling of Guru Tegh Bahadur

Before 1999, an NCERT textbook falsely labeled Guru Tegh Bahadur a ‘plunderer’. Though corrected in 2001 after objections, those responsible went scot-free.

Misrepresentation of Hindu Scriptures

Textooks distort Manusmriti and the Vedas as oppressive, while ignoring verses from the Rig Veda that affirm women’s rights, misleading students about Hindu scriptures and traditions.

Selective Narrative on Social Practices

Long forgotten and rare customs like Sati are criticised, but oppressive Muslim practices like triple talaq and halala are not mentioned.

Ignored Truth About Slavery

NCERT textbooks overlook Megasthenes’ account of no institutional slavery in Hindu society, while omitting the harsh reality of Hindu women being enslaved and sold by Muslim rulers.
