बकरी र्इद के समय होनेवाली गोहत्या रोकें !

‘Bakri Eid’ is on 22nd August. As per our past experience, cows are slaughtered along with goats in large number in this country, in areas where Muslim population is in majority. There are few rules given in ‘Quran’ about sacrificing animals on the day of ‘Bakri Eid’ as given below.

1. The animal, which is to be sacrificed, should be very dear to you.

2. One, who sacrifices animal, should read ‘namaz’ 5 times every day.

3. Animal, which is to be sacrificed, should not be wounded internally or externally.

4. Animal, which is to be sacrificed, should not be kept hungry or thirsty.

5. At the time of slaughtering, one animal should not be tortured in front of another animal.

It needs to be found out that how many Muslims follow the above rules. An ordinary citizen also knows that the above rules are not followed. If one studies these rules, one will realize that animal should not be bought for giving as sacrifice because something that is very dear should be sacrificed and not the animal which is bought. Only those, whose hunger for worship is not satiated even after reading ‘namaz’ for 5 times, have right to give such sacrifice and everyone doesn’t have such right. Sacrificing others is actually murder. The way animals are transported by loading them in trucks one above the other, causes injuries to animals and sacrificing such wounded animals is wrong. While transporting these animals, they are not fed properly. Killing such hungry and thirsty animals is also wrong. On the day of Bakri Eid, one animal is killed in front of another animal which is against Islam and will not be accepted under Islam.

Despite such rules mentioned in ‘Quran’, millions of goats and cows are slaughtered openly which is wrong under the religion. Cow is holy and like a mother to Hindus; therefore, it is called as ‘Goumata’. Everything obtained from cow, from milk to cow-dung is useful for farmers. Maharashtra Government has passed a law in the year 2015 imposing ban on cow-slaughter. It was therefore, expected that cow-slaughter and cow-trafficking will be stopped; but that has not happened. There is law banning cow-slaughter even in States like Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh etc; but there too, cows are slaughtered in large numbers. There is no provision in this law for stringent punishment; therefore, most of the accused are released immediately on bail and continue their illegal activity. It shows that cow-slaughterers and cow-traffickers are not at all scared of the law.

It has not been stated in ‘Quran’ to slaughter cows on the day of ‘Bakri Eid’. Muslims know that Hindus worship cows; even then they purposely kill them only to hurt religious sentiments of Hindus; leading to communal tension and social disharmony. Muslims are buying cows/ cattle in large numbers for the forthcoming Bakri Eid. Hindus are already annoyed with continuous cow-slaughtering, trafficking of beef etc. On one side, the Government is trying to preserve and increase number of animals by giving huge funds for the cause and trying to implement the law passed for ban on cow-slaughter but on the other hand, why is it granting permission for one day on the occasion of Bakri Eid to erect temporary slaughter-houses, is beyond understanding.

The Government should consider the following demands in connection with the above matter.

1. The Government has imposed ban on inhuman custom of sacrificing at the holy shrines of Shri Mandhardevi, on the fort of Satara and at other places. Similarly, the Government should impose ban on slaughtering of cows and goats on the day of Bakri Eid.

2. The Government has advised Hindus to celebrate eco-friendly Ganesh festival imposing ban on many religious customs and traditions. In same way, Government should explain rules regarding sacrifice to Muslims as explained in ‘Quran’ and make appeal to them for celebrating eco-friendly Bakri Eid.

3. As per Government’s orders, it is illegal to slaughter animals at any other place except at Government abattoirs. Even then, by granting permission for erecting slaughter-house for one day on Bakri Eid, the Government is going against its own orders. Such permission for slaughter-houses should not be granted.

4. ‘Gou-rakshaks’ are always ready to help Government for protection of cows/cattle. The local administrations should be alert and see to it that cows are not slaughtered. Police squads should be kept ready at different places, for surveillance on that day. The Government should note that if cows are slaughtered on the day of Bakri Eid and any law and order problem is created, the Government machinery would be solely responsible for such situation.

5. Stringent action should be taken against fanatic cow-traffickers trying to spoil the atmosphere.
