‘Govt should stop demolition of temples considering them as illegal’

Notable suggestion in the Legislative Council to the Chief Secretary by BJP MLAs, and to the Speaker by Shivsana MLAs !

Nagpur: Since last one year, there is a spree to demolish temples by Corporations of all over the state, Navi Mumbai and Akola under the name of encroachment. Respective temples have neither been served any notice in that regard nor been informed in advance. Such demolitions hurt the religious sentiments of the citizens. With a view to stop this Government campaign of destroying temples, BJP MLAs have presented a notable suggestion in the Legislative Council (L.C.) to the Chief Secretary of the state on 8th December. Shri. Gopikishan Bajoriya, MLA of Shivsena from Akola – Vashim presented a similar point in the L.C. on 9th December and the speaker Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar got it registered.

BJP MLAs Govardhan Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Kute, Akash Fundkar and Mrs. Manda Mhatre have mentioned in the appeal filed in the L.C. under the rule 105 that, the state is known to be the land of Saints. There are various sects and schools of thought in the state. As a result of that the atmosphere in the state is religious and sattva predominant. Temples are constructed using the funds collected from ordinary citizens; but in the name of the court temples in the state and Akola city are being demolished, thereby hurting the sentiments of the citizens. Therefore the Government should stop this action and give its response immediately.

Shri. Bajoriya of Shivsena said in the L.C. that, temples in the state are being demolished under the name of the Supreme Court. The temples which are being demolished are neither causing any hurdle to the traffic nor are in the middle of the road. That means this action is against the Supreme Court order.
