Panvel (Maharashtra): The media is not sensitive towards the incidents of oppression taking place against Hindus and Hinduism; in fact, they purposely try to avoid such topics. ‘Sudarshan’ channel has, however, decided to go against the flow and offer an open platform to show suppressed feelings of Hindus. The above statement was made by Mr. Suresh Chavanke, the Director of the said channel. He was talking to members of pro-Hindu Organisations, parties, Sects, social organizations etc. at the Government Rest House in Panvel.

He said further, “We changed our policy to a strong nationalist and pro-Hindus channel when there was opposition to the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Through special programs like ‘Kasab ke saath Manavata aur Sadhvi ke saath danavata kyun?’, ‘Vande Mataram’ ko virodh kyun?’ etc. open discussions were held with citizens which created a good impact. Other channels are not interested in handling these topics; but we give priority to such topics. We want to show what pro-Hindus want to say and ‘Sudarshan’ channel will try to show programs on such topics. Recently, we had a meeting with non-resident Indians in USA. Indians and Hindus have shown interest in starting transmission of ‘Sudarshan’ channel there. The channel will start transmission from 15th August. The second stage of transmission of this channel has started in Maharashtra from Panvel. The channel wants to make 100000 citizens as alert reporters, who will bring forth in the open, cases of corruption and the same will be shown on our channel.”

The program was attended by Dr. Uday Joshi, the Maharashtra chief of this cahnnel, Mr. Sudesh Mukkawar, Mr. Pradip Tuptewar, Mr. Jay Thakur, Mr. Abhay Vartak, the spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha, Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district-cooedinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, Mr. Kashinath Patil of Panvel Panchayat Samiti, Mr. Mahendra Patil, the BJP city-President for Panvel, Mr. Baban Bargaje, the city-President of BJP for Kalamboli, Mrs. Shreyasi Karve from ‘Sanskarbharati’, Mr. Prakash Manik of Yoga Vedanta Samiti, Mrs. Usha Sharma of Gayatri Parivar, Mr. Bajarang Patil of Sree Sampradaya, Mr. Madhavrao Bhide, a senior Shiv Sainik and Mr. Vishwasrao Bhide, legal advisor of HJS.

At the holy place Shirdi, it was announced that Hindi Dharmashikshan classes will be made available on television channel now. The program will be broadcasted throughout India from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Sudarshan channel is available at 3805 MHz and 28500 signal rate. At this time an appeal was made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti to take benefit of these Dharmashikshan classes and demand local cable operators to broadcast Sudarshan channel.

While addressing the press conference Mr. Ramesh Shinde said, “After the independence of India, due to secular policy of the government Dharma education was ceased for Hindus. Muslims and Christians continued Dharma education in Madarsas and churches. But Hindus were deprived of Dharma education from past two generations. Thus we do not know anything about Dharma now. Most of us feel that we visit temple everyday; perform worship, fast on certain days this itself is following the Dharma. What’s new about Dharma Education being told by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Our practice of Dharma is limited to individual level. Even in whatever things we follow if asked how much do we understand the science and practice it according to the science, most of us would reply negatively.”

He further added, “Most of us are unaware of things like, What is the importance of Hindu Dharma? Why one should apply tilak on forehead? What are the various aspects of Hindu Dharma? How to perform ritualistic worship? How to take darshan in temple? What is the importance of following Righteous conduct? Dincharya (Daily routine according to Dharma), Importance of Holy festivals, Religious festivals and Vowed observances. How to follow all these aspects of Dharma and their scientific explanation and videos depicting the practical application will be included in these Dharmashikshan classes. This will help simplify the understanding of Hindu Dharma, awaken pride and generate faith about Hindu Dharma and traditions.”
