Know more about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Mumbai: There was an undeclared ban by the State Government to display a picture depicting slaying of Afzal Khan by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj so that the sentiments of non – Hindus were not hurt. Shiv Sainiks who knocked the door of the Court against such ban will now be able to display the picture due to an order issued by the Court. (Congratulations to the Shiv Sainiks who fought legally for displaying the picture with the urge to present the glorious history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj before all Hindus with a view to get inspiration from the same. Only Shiv Sainiks fight for the issues involving the matters related to religion and national identity ! – Editor SP)

Shiv Sena has been celebrating ‘Shiva-jayanti’ at Rambaug, Kalyan on a very large scale since the past 30 years. Mr. Vijay Salvi, the city-chief  of Shiv Sena had gone to the Court seeking permission to display the above mentioned picture. Mr. Salvi had said in his petition that a mammoth rally has been organized at Kalyan to create awareness among people about the valor exhibited by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and to preserve our historical legacy seeking permission from the Police Commissioner to display the picture showing slaying of Afzal Khan but the permission was not granted giving the reason of communal riots which had taken place in Miraj during the Ganesh Festival. (Today riots are taking place because picture of Afzal Khan’s slaying is displayed. Tomorrow, riots might take place just because the name of Shivaji Maharaj is uttered. Should the Hindus then stop even taking the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj? – Editor SP)

The matter was heard before the Bench comprising of Judges Smt. Ranjana Desai and Mrudula Bhatkar. The Government Advocate Konde-Deshmukh was asked to discuss the matter with the Dy. Police Commissioner. After discussions, the Dy. Police Commissioner opined that there was nothing wrong with the display of the said picture at Rambaug. Consequently, while passing verdict, Smt. Ranjana Desai said, The picture depicting slaying of Afzal Khan can be displayed in the rally at Rambaug; it can be displayed even in other areas in Rambaug. Only when the rally is taken out of Rambaug, the picture may be removed. The police should provide necessary security at Rambaug. The organizers should also take precaution and see that the communal harmony is not disturbed.

We will display picture of slaying of Afzal Khan in Miraj also ! – MLA Suresh Khade

Miraj (Maharashtra): With the permission of Municipality and Police Administration, picture of Afzal Khan’s slaying is going to be put up. The riots that took place in Miraj were pre-planned by the Administration. The cases filed against all the innocents should be withdrawn and the real offenders responsible for the riots should be found and action should be taken against them. The above demand has been made by Mr. Suresh Khade, a BJP MLA in a press conference.
