Furious over reports about the involvement of Hindu organisations like Abhinav Bharat in the Pune blasts, the outfit’s president, Himani Sarvarkar has threatened to sue the Maharashtra government.

Savarkar said she has already met her lawyers to file a defamation case.

"I have met my laywer on Tuesday and have handed him all the papers. We are planning to file a defamation case against the Maharashtra government," said Savarkar.

Denying reports about her organisation’s involvement, Himani said: "This is totally shameless on the part of the government to put the blame on us. They have not been able to prevent the blasts or arrest the culprits, and now to divert attention they are putting the blame on us merely because we protect the interests of Hindus."

Her retort on suing the government was in response to television news reports, which attributed highly placed home ministry official on the investigations exploring the role of Hindutva organisations in the Pune blasts.

Sarvarkar suspects the reports in the media being timed to prejudice the court in the Malegaon blast case.

She added that there was no question of Abhinav Bharat being involved in the blasts as their organisation condemns acts of terrorism.

"I strongly believe there is a concerted effort on the part of the government to defame and silence Hindu organisations such as ours, Shiv Sena and Sri Ram Sene. People like Pragya (Singh Thakur), who have been accused of terrorism, are innocents. They have been targeted by the government," she said.
