Demand to ban objectionable writings about saints
Malshiras (Solapur): Writings of such writers, who write objectionable matter about saints, should be banned and criminal cases should be filed against them. A law should be passed in this connection and trustees of the places of pilgrimage, who do not agree with the principles of warakaris, should be removed from their posts.
The Chief Minister should agree with the above and make a declaration to that effect when he comes to the ‘Vakhari’ base of the rally. This demand has been made by Warakari Sect in a meeting held yesterday. A warning has also been given by warakaris that till their demands are not fulfilled; they will stop their rallies (waris) on the border of Pandharpur and will not enter Pandharpur on the day of Ashadhi Ekadashi. (It has been a week since the warakaris have demanded ban on anti-Hindu books but the Government has not done anything as yet. Will the Congress Government show such indifference to the demands made by Muslims? – Editor SP)
Books of writers viz. Anand Yadav, Sudam Sawarkar, M. M. Deshmukh, Shrimant Kokate, Purushottam Khedekar and others who have written against the saints and the great leaders should be confiscated by the Government and criminal case should be filed against the Government under Section 295. (The novel titled ‘Satanic Verses’ written by Salaman Rashdi that had some objectionable writings about Prophet Mohammad was promptly banned by Congress Government even before Muslims demanded such ban; but despite Hindus constantly making demands in lawful manner, Congress Government is not taking any decision on the issue of denigration of their objects of worship. Such anti-Hindu Congress Government should be taught a lesson in the forthcoming elections of Legislative Assembly. – Editor SP) Yesterday, a meeting of chiefs and owners of 7 honored ‘palakhis’ was held here in which the above resolutions were passed.
