Maharashtra: Police vehicles torched near Temple in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, clashes over Ram Navami celebration near mosque in Jalgaon

On March 29, Wednesday night, two groups clashed in the Kiradpura area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, hurling stones and setting vehicles on fire. In a similar incident in the Jalgaon district, clashes broke out over playing music outside a mosque as Namaz was taking place. The conflict in Kiradpura allegedly started on the night between March 29 and 30.

The clashes in the Kiradpura incident started after a fight broke out between two people outside a Ram Temple. The situation worsened when more people arrived at the scene and started throwing stones at one another, according to the police, who also stated that the crowd set a number of police and public vehicles on fire outside the temple.

Speaking to ANI Nikhil Gupta, CP Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar said, “Stones were pelted, and some private & police vehicles were set on fire. Police used force to disperse the people and now the situation is peaceful. Police will take strict action against the miscreants.”

CP Nikhil Gupta also informed that a mob of around 500 to 600 people was involved in the incident adding that the efforts to nab them are on. He also assured that the said Ram Temple where a Ram Navami celebration was to take place is also safe.

Clashes in Jalgaon

A fight broke out between two groups when DJ music was played as a religious procession passed by a mosque in Paldhi, in the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. For the violence that started on Tuesday night, the police have so far made 45 arrests and registered two FIRs.

On Tuesday, a number of people led the Dindi Yatra, which was supposed to proceed to Saptashringi Garh. Unknown miscreants threw stones at the yatra participants as the procession passed through the village of Paldhi, which infuriated the participants and led to vandalism. Three private vehicles were reportedly vandalized. In addition to this, a police jeep was set on fire and three persons were injured. However, the situation is now under control, a According to M. Islamist mob pelts stones on Ram Navami procession in Vadodara, Gujarat

On Thursday, a Ram Navami procession near Panjrigar mohalla in Vadodara district of Gujarat was attacked by Islamists who pelted stones at the procession. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad, confirming the attack stated that the attack was massive but the idol of Lord Rama was saved.

According to the reports, around 200-500 Muslims arrived on the street during the procession and began pelting stones at the procession and the Hindu participants. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)’s local office bearer Vishnubhai Prajapati stated that some vehicles including big cars were also damaged.

The Ram Navami procession was planned and organized by Karelibag prakhand of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Reports mention that the peace in the area was disturbed as the radical Muslims launched an attack on the procession while it was on its planned route and was passing by the mosque in the city.

The Police said that stones were pelted on the procession after it left the Harani Police Station area. Two squads of SRP were deployed immediately and the situation was taken under control. No injuries have been reported.

Violence erupts during Ram Navami procession in Howrah, several vehicles and shops torched

After West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee advised Hindus to avoid ‘Muslim areas’ during Ram Navami processions, such a procession came under attack in Howrah today. Stones were pelted on the procession from the terraces of the buildings in the Shibpur area of Howrah, the twin city of Kolkata. This led to a clash between two groups, leading to violence and arson.

Vehicles and shops were also torched during the violence. Videos from the place show several vehicles on fire on the road, while many other vehicles were lying overturned. The damaged vehicles include a police vehicle. The neighbourhood where the violence was reported is dominated by Muslims.

Reportedly, when the Ram Navami procession reached the area, suddenly trouble began and people in the area started shouting and pelting stones at the devotees. Reportedly some people in the procession retaliated, leading to a clash between the two groups. Soon after the mob started burning shops and vehicles.

Several police personnel have been deployed in the area. A police team conducted a flag march after the ruckus broke out. Police fired tear gas shells to control the situation, and chased away the rioters.
