Panaji: The Goa University conferred its first-ever D.Litt. honor on the imperialist President of Portugal. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged angry demonstrations in front of the Kala Academy complex strongly protesting the anti-national decision of the Goa University.
The 19th convocation ceremony was held at 3.15 in the hall of Kala Academy. When the President of Portugal entered the premises in a car under tight security cover, Shri. Bhushan Bhave, Goa state vice-president of ABVP tried to intercept and obstruct his vehicle and started giving slogans against Goa Government and Goa University. The police rushed to the spot and arrested 40 workers of ABVP and released them in the evening.
(Kudos to ABVP for its agitation against Goa University’s decision! By conferring this honor on a president of Portugal, the country that ruled ruthlessly on the Goans for 450 years and imposed cruel laws like the Inquisition on the Goan Hindus for forcing conversions on a large scale, the Goa university has shown its true colour that it is more loyal to Portugal than to India.
For the purpose of maintaining the honour of the president of a country, which was once our enemy country, the police arrested the patriot citizen of our own country! This happens only in India! Editor)
