Madhya Pradesh also plans strict law against ‘Love Jihad’

It is better if the Central Government itself forms a strict law against ‘Love Jihad’ than each state forming a separate law !

Bhopal (MP) – ‘We are planning to introduce a bill against ‘Love Jihad’ in the next session of State Assembly. Such an offence would be a non-bailable offence, and the bill proposes 5 years of rigorous imprisonment for the culprits, informed Narottam Mishra, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister. The States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Karnatak have also announced to form the laws against Love Jihad previously.

Narottam Mishra added that on the backdrop of ‘Love Jihad’ the Bill called Dharma Swatantrya law would be proposed in the next session of State Assembly. After the law has been formed, the culprits would be punished 5 years of rigorous imprisonment by registering a non-bailable offence against them. Under the proposed Bill, those assisting “forced conversions for marriage” will be made co-accused. The Bill also has a provision for the punishment to the one who would force a person to convert for marriage. If someone wishes to get married after conversion then the concerned person should provide an application in the District Collector’s office. The Bill would have a provision to declare the marriages, which are carried out forcefully as null and void, by threatening and hiding the identity.
