Hindus questioned the Kerala Government’s advertisement promoting beef in a bid to increase tourism in the state.

“Tender chunks of beef, slow-roasted with aromatic spices, coconut pieces, and curry leaves. A recipe for the most classic dish, Beef Ularthiyathu, the stuff of legends, from the land of spices, Kerala,” read the controversial Twitter post, dated January 15, by Kerala Tourism.

A cow is considered sacred and is revered by Hindus and several states have banned its slaughter as a sign of regard for prevalent religious sentiments.
