MP revoking criminal cases against Congress leaders, allies
BHOPAL : The Madhya Pradesh government has issued orders to withdraw at least 30 criminal cases against its MLAs and ministers since January this year – including those of cabinet members P C Sharma, Tarun Bhanot and Pradhuman Singh Tomar. Cases against BSP MLAs and Independents supporting the government are being withdrawn.
Sources say cases relating to those commonly registered for protests against the government – like ‘rioting’ and disobedience of an order given by a government official – are being withdrawn. Serious criminal cases like that of murder, attempted murder or sexual assault are not on the reprieve list, said officials, adding that the courts will have the final say.
Principal secretary, home, S N Mishra confirmed it.
