4 members of a Buddhist family including 2 women and 2 children brutally murdered by suspected Rohingya Jihadis in Cox’s Bazar.
Jolly Roy Barua | HENB | Cox’s Bazar : Throat-slit bodies of four members of a Buddhist family were found in their house within pool of blood in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar today.The gory scene of murder likens the brutal killing of ethnic tribal and Buddhist families happened in this areas in the hands of Arakan-Rohingya Jihadi groups. The Islamist groups have been creating fear for years in the minds of Tribal and Buddhists people in the Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong areas to grab the local powers under Sharia.
The deceased were identified as Sakhi Barua, 60, wife of late Prabin Barua, her daughter-in-law Mila Barua, 25, wife of Bumen Barua and two grandchildren — Robin Barua, 5, and Sony Barua, 6, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Additional Superintendent of Police (Ukhiya circle) Nihad Adnan.
Mila and Robin were the wife and son of Bumen Barua, an expatriate in Kuwait, while Sony was the daughter of Shibu Barua, another son of Sakhi Barua.
Informed by locals, police went to Purba Ratna village of Ratnapalong union in the upazila around 8:00am and recovered the bodies from the three separate rooms of the house.
After primary investigation, police assumed that the miscreants entered the house breaking the ceiling.
Police told that the murders were done in the mid to late night on Wednesday (25th Sept) and all throat-slit bodies were recovered by police on Thrusday (Sept 26).
The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital for autopsy.
AKM Masud Hossain, superintendent of police in Cox’s Bazar, visited the spot. “We are investigating into the matter with outmost priority,” said Md Iqbal Hossain, additional superintendent of police in Cox’s Bazar.
The minority Hindu-Buddhists-Chakma-Christian people are put in a very vulnerable Jihadi situation in Islamic Bangladesh for years. No Govt in Bangladesh takes care of these marginal minority people very unfortunately. However, a high level investigating team of Cox’s Bazar police is investigating the case of killing of four of the Barua family.
Several senior officials of the district administration, police and Buddhist community leaders visited the spot.
Following the incident, the villagers were faced with fear and shock.
Several hundred people, who thronged the area to see the bodies, demanded immediate punishment of killers.
