Belguam : It has been more than a month since suspicious death of ‘Gorakshak’ Shivu Uppar; but reason for his death is not yet clear. It is claimed that Shivu Uppar committed suicide. In that case, inquiry should be conducted into cause for his suicide.Suspicion of the death being a case of murder is becoming strong from the comments made on social media and call list of cell phone; however, it is being portrayed as suicide to cover up the incident. It therefore, seems to be a conspiracy. ‘Chalo Belgaum’ appeal was made by Shri. Pramod Mutalik, national President of Shriram Sena, during the press conference held on 8th July for transferring the case to Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI). The press conference was held on 8th July at 11.00 a.m. Similar press conferences were held at 16 places in Belgaum district and Taluka to create awareness towards the issue.

BJP’s Sou. Seema Pawar, advocate Ramesh Guddadagi, Shri. Jabarchandra Jain, representing Jain community, Shri. Balu Kurabar, District President of ‘Hindu Rashtra Sena’, Shri. Vinay Angaroli, convener of Shriram Sena for Belgaum district and Dr. Anjesh Kanagalekar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) etc were present on the occasion.

Other points raised by Shri. Pramod Mutalik

1.I have met Shivu Uppar’s family. They seemed to be under a kind of pressure on family members and there is an atmosphere of fear in the house; but on giving them assurance of help, they frankly started telling their problems to me.

2. Had such incident taken place involving a Muslim youth, whole country would have been incited; therefore, government administration should conduct investigations in proper manner and help to get justice for his family.

3. Government should take stringent action for imposing ban on cow-slaughter. We shall take up the matter with Union Government if we didn’t get justice at local level.
