Police refuse permission for protest against Hindustan Unilever hurting Hindu sentiments

Hindu-hatred of police

Mumbai : Hindustan Unilever Company has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus by showing an advertisement of its washing powder ‘Surf Excel’ based on Hindus’ ‘Holi’ festival. It is shown that followers of other religions are troubled due to playing of colours on the day of ‘Rangapanchami’. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other pro-Hindu organizations had planned to stage demonstrations on 10th March near Dadar Railway station to condemn the said advertisement. HJS had given application to the concerned Matunga police station for permission. The permission was, however, refused by police only 1.30 hrs before starting of demonstrations, giving reasons of law and order. The demonstrations were therefore, cancelled.
