Woman raped for 3 years by ‘Baba’ Noor Shaikh on pretext of freeing her from ‘black magic curse’

Thane : In a shocking incident reported from Thane city near Mumbai, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped for several years on the pretext of freeing her from the ‘cursed black magic’ by a self-styled godman. The accused’s wife was also an alleged accomplice in the heinous crime and had made videos of the rapes and the two had extorted close to Rs 2 lakh from her as well.

The victim, a resident of Dahisar, had met the ‘baba’, Noor Shaikh, in Rabodi area of Thane through word of mouth recommendation by one of her relatives. Shaikh told her that she was a victim of a black magic curse and if she wanted to rid her of the evil, she would have to pay money for the rituals. The accused then then took Rs 1,48,000 from the victim and another Rs 30,000 from the victim’s mother.

The accused’s wife had told the victim that the woman’s mother-in-law had cursed her with ‘black magic’. Later, Noor Shaikh repeatedly raped the victim for three years between 2015-2018. When the victim opposed the accused, the accused’s wife Rubina threatened her saying, “We have your obscene video clips, so do whatever we say or we will make them go viral on social media.”

The victim, who was devastated with years of sexual assault, finally filed a complaint with Rabodi Police Station. Subsequently, a case was registered against Noor Shaikh and his wife Rubina under charges of molestation, rape and cheating. Rabodi police have arrested both the accused and an investigation is underway.
