Malpractices at Shirdi Devasthan stopped after Govt took over : Claims CM Fadanvis

  • All ‘Devasthanas’ under control of Government are involved in scams worth billions of rupees; so how correct is misleading claim made by Chief Minister ?
  • The Govt. does not have any plan to take over all ‘Devasthanas’ in the State !
  • CM evades talking about corruption in Shirdi Devasthan

Nagpur : The Government has taken over temples to prevent malpractices in their management. The Government, however, has no plans to take over all temples and shrines in the State. Malpractices taking place at ‘Shirdi Devasthan’ have stopped after Government took over its management. Under the law of takeover of temples by Govt, temples are registered but mosque is not considered as private property since it is considered as Wakf Board’s property.

Under Wakf Board’s law, mosque is considered to be their property though the Board is managed by other people. We cannot, therefore, take over Wakf Board, stated CM Devendra Fadanvis while speaking to reporters on 16th July at Civil Lines. It was an informal meeting. He gave the above information while answering a question asked by representative of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ on takeover of temples by Govt. (Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad (HVP) has exposed misappropriation of billions of rupees committed by ‘devasthanas’ like Shirdi, Siddhivinayak, Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir etc after they were taken over by the Government. HVP has submitted even proofs of such malpractices. Even then, why is CM Fadanvis misleading millions of devotees by giving wrong information ? If Govt. is trying to protect corrupt persons, devotees need to unite and give legal fight against takeover of temples by Govt ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Lots of malpractices are observed in managing shrines at Shirdi, Shri Siddhivinayak, Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir, Kolhapur etc. Is the Govt. interested in having control over temples for taking away temples’ money ? Mosques and churches also have huge properties and wealth and they get funds from abroad; therefore, why doesn’t the Government take over mosques and churches and use their funds also for developmental work, were the questions asked to the Chief Minister.

CM Devendra Fadanvis said while giving replies to the above questions

1. We took decision of taking over temple at Shani Shingnapur after which action is now taken to build a record of vehicles and properties. (Corruption can be prevented by handing over their management to devotees and trustees. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

2. The Government has taken over temples where devotees visit in large numbers, for preventing misuse of money and the money can be used for devotees or for people. (It is very unfortunate that the CM is claiming misuse of funds is stopped by bringing temples under Govt.’s control although many scams have been exposed. Funds allocated to elected representatives for developmental work, funds available under various schemes operated by the Government can be used for such purposes but why money offered by devotees in temples should be used for such work ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

3. When questioned, CM Devendra Fadanvis avoided talking about misappropriation of Rs. 66 lakhs by Shirdi Devasthana in purchasing material for Nashik ‘Kumbh-mela’. (Should it be construed that CM was evading answers to questions asked about true facts shows there has been misappropriation of funds by Shirdi Devasthana and indicated CM’s acceptance of corruption ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
