Sri Lanka : Local govt body in Kalutura dist bans slaughter of cows and cattle

On behalf of the global Hindu populace, Shri. Maravanpulavu Sachithananthan congratulated the Chairman Mathugama Pradeshya Sabha, Shri. Meryl Munasinghe for having passed a resolution at the Sabha, a local government body in the Kalutura district, to ban slaughter of cattle in any form for any reason inside the areas administrated by the Sabha. The body has 33 Sinhalese Buddhist members and one Muslim member, all elected by people. 27 members voted in favour, 3 against, 3 abstained, 1 absent.
