Denigration of deities: Police argue before registering complaint

Amaravati: Crackers with pictures of deities and national heroes are freely sold in the city of Amaravati. A complaint was therefore, registered, in writing, with the police by Shiv Sena, Chhava Organisation, Goraksha Bachao Andolan, Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Before noting down the complaint, police unnecessarily had argument with the complainants.

The Police Inspector Shaikh Sultan at the City Police Station behaved very arrogantly with the complainants. Earlier a representation was given to the Police Commissioner of Amaravati for bringing a ban on sale of crackers with pictures of deities and national heroes. It was told to the complainants that the matter has been handed over to the Legal Advisor and action will be taken as per his advice.
