National Gau Sewa Parishad brings together cow breeders, cow product companies

The National Gau Sewa Parishad was organised in Pune between 6th & 7th Jan 2018 by the Gou Vigyan Sanshodhan Sansthan, the Janamitra Seva Sangh and the Yashoda Foundation.  The objective of the Parishad was to bring together cow owners and breeders with manufacturers of products that use cow panchagavya byproducts as an input. Along with getting folk together, the objective was to educate and enable both breeders and cow product companies about innovations, new technology and new uses, and introduce them to the vast variety of desi breeds in existence.

In the spirit of things, the conference started with a Kamdhenu Yagya. The exhibition area was divided into 2 separate areas. A seminar hall to seat 2000 people where topics related to Cow related businesses were covered by a variety of personalities who have worked in the field of Cow protection, Cow product based businesses, and a special address by the Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr. Purushottam Rupala ji.

The other area of the exhibition had 55 stalls and 80 businesses set-up to exhibit their cow and cow Panchagavya based products. A *Saptadhenu Darshan* was arranged where 7 different cow breeds were exhibited for the benefit of the  visitors. The products and services displayed, ranged from A2 milk, ghee, bio mass and medicines based on Panchagavya formulations to a consultancy advising on a Model Goshala setup, to education institutions offering courses on management of cow-based businesses.

Expert speakers and scientists addressed the gathering on nine different topics, in the two days. These included increasing farm productivity and prosperity, advice on healthy and organic harvest (Bharat has 19 lakh hectares of land under agriculture), using panchagavya products to alleviate diseases organically in both humans and farm animals, setting up loan free, self-sufficient businesses using cow byproducts and developing non conventional energy sources like solar and CNG.

Close to a thousand volunteers were present for helping out the attendees, and they were necessary as the event saw a footfall of over 1.5 lakh people over the two days, from states  including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka & Madhya Pradesh.

Similar events are going to be organised over the next few months, and the organisers are hoping to educate and introduce a similar number of people to the concept of breeding and nurturing desi cow breeds for self sufficiency. In February, the organisers will be holding a similar event centred around agriculture and health of milch cattle and farm animals.
