Hindus threatened of ‘encounter’ by the police for trying to protect cows being taken for slaughtering

Court orders to file cases against Police Superintendent, Police Inspector and workers

Bhor (Dist. Pune, Maharashtra) : The workers of ‘Bharatiya Gourakshak Sanghatana (BGS)’ who went to the police for help in saving the cows taken for slaughtering, were threatened of ‘encounter’ by the police. The Civil and Criminal Court has directed the Crime Investigation Branch to file case against Police Superintendent (SP) Dighavkar, Police Inspector (PI) Bote and the policeman Pawar who threatened the devout Hindus of ‘encounter’. There are strong reactions among Hindus against the police.

Mr. Ramdas Pachkale and his colleagues, Mr. Amit Gade and Mayur Gade of BGS saw 3 cows, 2 calves and 5 bulls being transported in a tempo on 13th November and they had a doubt that the cattle was taken for slaughtering. They, therefore, lodged a complaint with Rajgad Police Station. Initially, 5 policemen went with them to the place of incident. They took the tempo to Khed-Shivapur Police Station. But after reaching there, they claimed that there was no cause for filing a case and the complainants had no right to obstruct the vehicle. The police threatened that if they waited at the police station, a case of robbery would be filed against them. The police even issued a summons in the name of Mr. Pachkale. (Will the police, who behave so insolently with Hindus despite their following legal path, be able to say a word against Muslims? – Editor SP)  Mr. Pachkale informed the police about cows being taken in a vehicle at Shivapur Toll Post. (Congratulations to Mr. Pachkale for pursuing the matter in spite of police threats! Such Hindus are the true strength of Hindu Dharma. – Editor SP) The police went to the Toll Post and threatened Mr. Pachkale. They said, “You have not yet given up this work? Leave this district before 17th; else we will take you into custody as an offender. There, we will spoil your record and carry out ‘encounter’. (Are they the policemen or hooligans in uniform? – Editor SP) Mr. Pachkale filed a case with the Civil and Criminal Court. During the hearing on Saturday, Magistrate Abhay Kulkarni issued an order that Pune Crime Investigation Branch should register a case against PS Dighavkar, PI Bote and Policeman Pawar for not implementing the Protection of animals Act properly. He also criticized the behaviour of those police staff and stated that it was the duty of the police to protect animals and it is not right for them to shirk from their duty. A prima facie FIR can be lodged against them. The local citizens are angry with the staff at Rajgad Police Station. They have complaint against the police staff that the complainants were threatened by the police. There is a connection between the transporters of animals and the police; therefore, complaints were not registered against them.
