Ernakulum : Hindus in Kerala responded very spontaneously to the campaign of HJS creating awareness among Hindus to celebrate the New Year on Gudhi Padva (Yugadi) Day instead of 1st January. This awareness campaign concerning the New Year was held in the Maruti temple in Ernakulum here. The prople were made aware of the fact that the New Year is celebrated on Gudhi Padva Day. There is no spiritual or any other evidence stating to celebrate the New Year on 1st January. On that day what we witness is just having intoxicated drinks, drugs, parties, accidents and other untoward incidents.
Volunteers of the Samiti made people aware of the importance of the Hindu New Year through various banners and charts. There was also an exhibition of Sanatan’s products and Holy texts. Devotees were benefitted thereby.
