Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): 18 cows were killed at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh during Navaratri festival. Police have registered a case against unknown persons under ‘Cruelty to animals Act’ and ‘Law prohibiting killing of cows’ after pro-Hindu organizations made a demand with the police. Since the manner in which all the cows have died, the local citizens feel that they must have been poisoned.

Many pro-Hindu organizations like Bajarang Dal, Abhinav Bharat etc. rushed to the place of incident as soon as they learnt about the same. They raised slogans against the incident; therefore, the atmosphere became tense. The police immediately picked up bodies of the cows and sent them for post- mortem. Members of pro-Hindu organizations did not leave the police station and demanded action against the concerned persons. Thereafter, the police registered a case against unknown persons. (In India where Hindus are in majority, it is unfortunate that they have to make a demand with the police to register case for offence taking place against their places/ seats of  worship. Had similar thing happened in case of Muslims, police would have put innocent Hindus behind bars and harassed them even before anyone would have lodged a complaint. There is no alternative to Hindu unity to bring about a change in this situation !  – Editor SP)

Pro-Hindu organizations have accused that some miscreants have deliberately done such a thing during the festival period of Goddess  Bhagavati to cause communal rift among the people.
