Karnataka Temple Takeover Act

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has clarified that the government would take steps to bring Shri Krushna temple in Udupi and the Gokarna temple under the Muzrai Department.

GMDSM presented a memorandum to the Police Inspector, demanding immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the Thivim temple theft case. Sri Laxminarayan Mandir located at Thivim, Mapusa was looted on 10th June night. Materail worth 8 lacs of rupees was stolen at his time.

Bangalore (Karnataka): The State Government will constitute state and district level bodies to administer muzrai temples, Muzrai Minister V S Acharya has said.

7th May in City Bus stand parking area HJS protested against State Government ‘s Anti Hindu Act Related to Religious Society and Religious ACT 2011.The protest related mainly towards the State Government interference in the Govermantisations of Hindus Temples. Protest was attended by 120 dharmabhimanis.

Ultimately, BJP led State Government of Karnataka has come out successful in securing the approval of the both houses of the legislature to the long aspired Karnataka Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Bill 2011.

The Karnataka Government had formed a committee to oversee the administration and financial affairs of famous Melukote CheluvanarayanaSwamy Temple which is revered by lakhs of devotees.

Sri Anjaneya Kshetra in Kyamena Halli, Koratagere Taluka has got severe shortage of water with no water available even for abhisheka of the presiding deity Lord Hanuman, with devotees cursing the Government and management of the temple for lack of planning and function.

Bangalore (Karnataka): HJS organised a protest against introduction of the ‘Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Act 2011’ by Karnataka Govt. to intervene and loot the Hindu Temples in the state.

Recently Karnataka State Government passed The True Fact Of Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Act 2011 bill. We are totally shocked to go through the amendments to The Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Act 1997.

HJS held a press meet at the press club of Bangalore on the 22nd of March 2011 to protest against the passing of the Karnataka Hindu Dharmik Sanstha takeover Bill 2011’ in the legislative assembly and the council.

On 19th March 2011,a press meet was called by Hindu Janajaguti Samiti in Woodlands Hotel Mangalore regarding the protest against the handover of the religious field by the government. More than 18 press reporters and media people were present.

‘Karnataka Hindu Dharmik Sanstha Requisition Bill 2011’ was approved in Vidhan Parishad recently. Once this Bill is signed by the President, it would become a law and would be implemented. All the temples in the Karnatak State , their properties, jewellery along with the temple staff, priests, devotees, etc. would come under the control of the Government.

Mangalore (Karnataka): Authorities of Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple have revised the various seva rates with effect from January 2011. The Temple has been taken over by Karnataka Govt.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti held a protest rally accompanied by the cluster of devotees from Sharavu Mahaganapati temple condemning the orders issued by the Supreme Court to evict the centres of worship standing on the public property.

A meeting of ‘Muthadheeshes’ from the taluka were held by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to oppose the Government’s move to take over management of temples. The meeting was held on 3rd October at Sri Shunya Sampadan Muth and was attended by nine ‘Muthadheeshes’.
