New Delhi: The Home Ministry sat over Afzal Guru's mercy petition and did not send its recommendation to President A P J Abdul Kalam till his last day in office, it has been disclosed now.

While answering question regarding the mercy plea of Mohammed Afzal, Kalam said, 'Regarding Afzal Guru, I have not received any papers from the ministry concerned so far'.

In order to keep the prestige and glory of our Parliament and to save the lives of M.Ps of India, 8 of our security personnel lost their lives in the direct combat with the terrorist.

South Asian human rights activists here are taking the case of Mohammed Afzal to the European parliament just in time for President A P J Kalam's visit to Brussels, in an attempt to put pressure on India not to hang him.
